Born in Helsingør, Vindahl joined Nordsjælland’s academy at the age of 17, where he became friends with Magnus Kofod Andersen. He made his senior debut in the Danish top flight before moving on to AZ and 1. FC Nürnberg, from where he joined Sparta in August 2023.
Vindahl immediately established himself as our first-choice goalkeeper, and after six months, his loan spell was made permanent. During the 2023/24 season, he made 47 competitive appearances, featured in the Europa League round of 16 at Anfield and lifted the league title.
At the start of the following campaign, Vindahl helped end Sparta’s 19-year wait for a return to the Champions League, saving Malmö captain Anders Christiansen’s penalty in the decisive play-off second leg. His performance in the second league-phase match was equally memorable, as he helped Sparta secure a 1:1 draw away at Stuttgart.
Last season, Peter was particularly impressive in the UEFA Conference League league phase, becoming the hero of our victory over Legia Warsaw. His campaign was cut short in mid-February, however, when he suffered an injury during the opening stages of the home match against Hradec Králové. The 28-year-old goalkeeper has been sidelined ever since, but is now ready for a new challenge in the Sampdoria shirt.
